About This Project

The GAPS Conference Template is an elegant and forward-thinking solution to a recurring challenge in academic conference management: every year, a new conference requires a new website — with the same structure, the same features, the same institutional branding — built afresh from scratch at significant cost in time and effort.

The template was built as a WordPress Multisite installation, with a single master framework from which each new annual GAPS conference edition can be spun up instantly. Each year inherits the full infrastructure — abstract submission portal, peer review tools, delegate registration, and payment processing — while the specific content (programme, keynotes, venue information) is populated fresh for each edition.

Because all editions share a common domain (conference.g-a-p-s.net), past conferences are automatically preserved as a living archive simply by creating the next edition. There is no need to manage separate domains, hosting accounts, or website migrations — the archive builds itself. Future conference editions using the template can be found at gaps2023.org and subsequent iterations.

This project represents a genuinely efficient piece of digital infrastructure design — identifying a repeating problem and solving it architecturally rather than just doing the same work again each time.

What I Did

Full conference website template design & build using WordPress Multisite framework, abstract submission portal, peer review system, registration and payment integration. Template architecture designed for zero-friction reuse across future editions.
