About This Project

The Memory Studies Association is the world's leading international scholarly community dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of how societies and individuals remember the past. With members spanning every continent, the Association required a sophisticated digital home capable of serving both a public audience and a large, subscription-paying membership base.

The website was designed and built from scratch as a full-featured membership platform. Key features include tiered membership access (free public content vs. members-only resources), integrated payment processing via Stripe, PayPal, and Ticket Tailor for annual membership subscriptions and conference ticket sales, event listings with registration flows, and a members-only content hub with controlled access.

The architecture was designed to scale comfortably to thousands of international users, with a clean, scholarly aesthetic that projects the gravitas of an established academic institution while remaining accessible and modern. The MSA website continues to be the Association's primary digital platform years after launch.
