About This Project

The Memory Studies Groups Hub is one of the most technically complex projects in the Docedesign portfolio — a WordPress Multisite installation encompassing 24 individual group websites for the Memory Studies Association's growing global network of regional and thematic working groups.

Each sub-site represents a distinct working group (covering regions across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and thematic areas including race, gender, trauma, and oral history) and follows a consistent design framework inspired by the parent MSA website, while allowing each group its own identity, content, and community. Every sub-site features its own forum (via bbPress), blog, event calendar, and social feeds.

The real technical achievement is the central hub architecture: custom WordPress plugins were built from scratch to manage cross-site membership, allowing MSA members to join individual group sites, participate in group-specific discussions, and access paywall content — all from a single login and centralised member dashboard. A networked calendar aggregates events from across all 24 sites. This is a landmark piece of work demonstrating deep WordPress Multisite expertise and custom plugin development.
